OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man is dead after a pursuit early Thursday involving the Nebraska State Patrol and the Omaha Police Department.
In an update from NSP, the incident began when a trooper performed a traffic stop on westbound I-80 near 96th Street at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
The driver of the vehicle, a Ford F-150 pickup, fled the traffic stop westbound and was later driving northbound on Interstate 680. OPD’s Able 1 helicopter joined the pursuit and stop sticks were deployed to slow the vehicle.
“Just after the vehicle passed Blair High Road, still traveling on I-680, the driver began firing multiple shots out the driver’s side window,” NSP said in the update.
The pursuit ended when the pickup crashed into a tree in the backyard of a residence near North 88th and Sunrise Street
