TYLER, Texas — A Tyler woman is facing child endangerment charges after police say she left her 8-week-old baby inside a hot car Wednesday afternoon.

Around 11:45 a.m., Tyler Police Department officers responded Stanton Optical on South Broadway Ave., after an employee saw an infant alone in a non-running vehicle. Temperatures were in the upper 90s at the time. The employee called 911.

Police say the mother, identified as 22-year-old Adasia Henderson, had an eye appointment at 10:30 a.m., and reportedly forgot the baby was in the car.

When officers arrived, Henderson was outside feeding the child. She was arrested at the scene and booked into the Smith County Jail. The infant was taken to the hospital to be evaluated and is expected to be OK.
