ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan thinks it’s found something with the guys up front.

A year after the offensive line stumbled its way through an 8-5 season, lacking continuity, leadership and the grueling physicality it had become known for, offensive line coach Grant Newsome spoke bullishly about the group this week.

In a session with reporters on Wednesday, the one-week mark of training camp, Newsome praised his group’s work ethic, tenacity and competition.

“They’re closer, and that was one of the things — looking internally, talking with the guys, talking with coach (Sherrone) Moore all throughout last year,” said Newsome, in his second year on the job. “What was the missing piece?
