The government is encouraging residents to brace themselves for the second nationwide trial of the UK's Emergency Alerts system in exactly one month. On Sunday, September 7 at approximately 3pm, mobile devices connected to 4G and 5G networks throughout Britain will buzz and produce a piercing alarm-like tone lasting up to 10 seconds.
A trial message will display on screens, clearly indicating the alert is a practice run. The exercise will mark only the second trial of this nature and follows the government's pledge to regularly assess the system to ensure peak functionality and familiarise the public with emergency notifications.
This approach mirrors established procedures in nations such as Japan and the USA, reports the Manchester Evening News .
