A new chess sculpture trail has opened just 30 minutes from Cambridge - with clues to crack hidden messages. Each of the timber sculptures is paired with a unique 18-character motto.
Newmarket has installed a permanent "king" and "queen" in the town alongside more four foot wooden sculptures, including three "pawns" designed by local competition winners.
Visitors are being invited to find and study each one to interpret a saying for each of the sculptures.
The route around the town is as follows:
KING - The Sovereign - located on Palace Street outside the National Horseracing Museum.
QUEEN - The Guardian – can be found by Memorial Hall.
BISHOP - The Trainer – is on the turf at The Severals.
KNIGHT - The Bloodline – is at the southern end of the High Street.
ROOK - The Yard – is
