LONG BEACH – A 46-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Long Beach has been identified, county authorities said Thursday.

Officers were dispatched at 9:05 p.m. Friday to the area of Atlantic Avenue and 36th Street regarding a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jaime Ferrera.

The vehicle was going south on Atlantic when it struck Ferrera, who was crossing the same street. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

“Speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision,” according to a police statement.
