NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in New Haven on Wednesday evening, according to city police.
Police were called to the 200 block of Foxon Boulevard around 10:15 p.m. for a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.
Officers determined that Jaime Melendez-Martinez, 58, of New Haven, was crossing Foxon Boulevard near Walmart when a vehicle on the road traveling east toward Quinnipiac Avenue hit Melendez-Martinez. Police determined that Melendez-Martinez was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk.
Police said Melendez-Martinez ultimately died from injuries.
The vehicle left the scene but later went to the New Haven Police Dept. to report the crash, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made
