AUSTIN, Texas — 'Tis the season for walk-on scholarship videos, and one of the latest was awarded to a Highland Park High School alumnus.

Texas Longhorns fifth-year linebacker Marshall Landwehr received a scholarship from a video courtesy of Hollywood star actor – and Longhorn alum – Glen Powell.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the team, saying he had a video to show them before starting their meeting. Then the "Top Gun: Maverick" star appeared on screen.

"What's up, fellow Longhorns? It's Glen Powell, fellow Texas alum. I have a newfound respect for what it takes to join a football team. It takes grit, it takes grind, and most importantly: it takes heart. Marshall, your hard work has not gone unnoticed. That's why Texas is awarding you a scholarship," Powell said.
