SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - After remaining unsolved for 25 years, a sexual assault case in Holland has been closed with the sentencing of Jamie Dodge, who was identified as a suspect using advanced DNA technology.

In July 2000, a woman was walking on Sand Hill Road in Holland when she was grabbed from behind, dragged into the nearby woods. and sexually assaulted. Law enforcement, including K9 units and a helicopter, immediately searched the area for a suspect. Despite efforts for months, canvassing the area, a suspect was never identified.

Using DNA technology in 2001, the profile of an unknown man was uploaded to the national CODIS database maintained by the FBI however, the identity did not match any individual in the system for over two decades. As part of the investigation, the Hamp
