SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) -- Doesn't seem like it was that long ago we were talking about our 11th wettest Mays on record. And now we can hardly get much rain to fall from the sky unless you're in just right spot.
Our lawns are looking a bit brown, but despite the lack of rain this summer the majority of Central New York is not considered to be in a drought. At least not yet.
According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor report released Thursday morning August 7, parts of Western New York and the North Country are considered to be abnormally dry.
The abnormally dry areas have expanded compared to last week as you can see below.
