STONE HARBOR — Members of the Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company worry that a proposed restructuring of borough fire services will sideline them and potentially end their company.

Lou Donofrio, a lieutenant with the volunteer company, read a letter on behalf of the members at the Wednesday meeting of Borough Council, outlining a July 31 meeting with borough officials.

“At this meeting, to our surprise and dismay, we were presented with a proposed plan outlining the restructuring of the fire department,” Donofrio said. “As it stands, the proposal would significantly reduce the presence and role of the volunteer fire company — and conceivably, eliminate it entirely.”
