HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — Participants bustled around the county's four-leaf-clover decorated fairgrounds Friday carrying chickens, tending to horses and feeding rabbits for the first day of this year's 4-H Fair.
The two-day fair, which concludes Saturday, includes various contests and showings related to what 4-H literature describes as themes of mastery, belonging, generosity and independence. The youth development program seeks to promote personal growth and the building of life skills in kindergarteners through graduated high school seniors.
Michael Magnotta, 6, participated in the 4-H Fair for the first time this year.
Asked about his favorite part of the fair, he said "riding horses" before giving Snickers the pony a gentle kick and trotting away.
