An officer was hit by a car, shots were fired and a storefront shattered at a mall before a group of alleged burglars led police on a chase in Chicago and escaped in a dramatic scene that all unfolded in a matter of minutes, police said.
According to Chicago authorities, the scene began just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday when CPD officers from the Albany Park district saw "multiple armed offenders burglarizing a business" in the 2900 block of West Addison Street. Footage from the scene showed glass shattered at a GameStop store in the Addison Mall on the Northwest Side.
Police said the offenders entered a white Chrysler sedan and a red Jeep SUV and hit one of the officers with a vehicle as they fled the scene. As the officer was hit, he discharged his firearm, but there were no immediate rep
