An extraordinary council meeting will be held over 'Nuneaton residents' concerns' after allegations a schoolgirl was raped. Conservatives at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council called for the special summit to be held.

It follows concerns raised as a result of the investigation into the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in the town. Reports the two men charged in connection with the incident were asylum seekers who were living in local Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMO) have attracted comments from politicians.

Local Tories say to ensure a prospective criminal trial was not put at risk, councillors would not discuss the specifics of the ongoing case. But, they say they want to discuss the impact on the local community.
