LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A man is charged with murder, strangulation , burglary and assault after police say he broke into his ex-partner’s home and shot and killed a man before attempting to strangle her.

Adrian Offutt Jr. , 27, is accused of breaking in to the Norbrook Drive residence of his ex-partner in the early morning hours of Aug 6. The warrant states he broke in through a window.

Offutt Jr. made his way into the bedroom where he fired two shots, killing Robert Dryden who was asleep. That’s when the second victim woke up. According to the warrant, that’s when Offutt Jr. told the her “you made me do this” before attempting to strangle her. He eventually stopped, exited the window he entered into and fired four rounds into the window.

Once on scene, the first victim was pronounced
