WAPPINGERS FALLS – The public is invited to celebrate National Spirit of ’45 Day at VFW Post 5913 in Wappingers Falls on Sunday, August 10. The Post, located at 8 School Street in the village, will commence the celebration, co-hosted by Dani Masterson, of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II at 11 a.m. and is free for all to attend.
National Spirit of ’45 Day is inspired by the announcement of the end of WWII by President Truman on August 14, 1945, and the observance was officially recognized by Congress in 2010 to commemorate the legacy, sacrifices, and triumphs of the Greatest Generation who served in World War II. “Together, we will celebrate their resilience and unity through remembrance ceremonies and special tributes,” said Advisory Chair of the Dutchess County Veterans
