MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A man is accused of stabbing a woman in the back on the staircase of a Manhattan subway station during rush hour Tuesday evening, police said.
Carlos Rivera, 21, was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder and multiple counts of assault, according to an NYPD spokesman.
Rivera allegedly attacked the 25-year-old woman on the stairs in the 23rd Street subway station near Eighth Avenue at around 6:30 p.m., cops said.
The woman was stabbed in the back and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Rivera was linked to the crime while in custody of the Manhattan Robbery Squad, sources said. Rivera has been previously arrested this year for allegedly shoplifting men's clothing and stealing a cellphone, police said.
