LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - After several years on hiatus, the Great American Ribfest is back in Lincoln, coming to the Lancaster County Super Fair for the first time.

The festival had previously stopped in 2018 because of a decline in attendance, but is back after renewed interest.

Organizer Jeremy Garrett said it’s a “celebration of barbecue”, bringing five vendors from Lincoln and across the country to share their creations.

“Everyone loves barbecue,” he said. “Having an event where people can taste barbecue from all over, I think it’s a great thing.”

A judging contest was also held on Wednesday, to see whose ribs were best. Judges included Gov. Jim Pillen, Lancaster County Commissioner Christa Yoakum, and 1011’s Jon Vanderford.
