FORT STEWART, Ga. — The U.S. Army provided a status update on five soldiers shot Wednesday at Fort Stewart in southeast Georgia. A press conference with Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll was held in the mid-morning Thursday.
Five soldiers were injured but survived the shooting. Their identities are not being released at this time; according to the commanding general at Fort Stewart, Brig. Gen. John Lubas, three were released on Wednesday — "which is amazing considering the circumstances," he said.
One other soldier remains in in-patient care at Winn Army Community Hospital on base at Fort Stewart. Brig. Gen. Lubas said she is "doing very well" and "in high spirits" with a "little road to recovery" but they're hopeful she could be released as soon as this weekend.
