Another step was taken for the county of Tulare to form a groundwater sustainability agency.

The Tulare County Local Agency Formation Commission, LAFCO, board unanimous approved the expansion of the Hope Water District at its meeting on Wednesday. The board approved the annexation which increases the size of the district from 2,248 acres to 3,828 acres.

The annexation provides for a larger area in which the entire area could have more access to surface water and and a mechanism for funding for a pipeline the district has planned to provide for more surface water for irrigation and from the Friant-Kern Canal to meet the district's irrigation, water banking and groundwater recharged demands.
