WATERLOO, Iowa — Keaton Northup, a former Waterloo police officer, has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a fatal motorcycle crash in 2024.
Northup, who was off-duty at the time, is accused of causing the crash that resulted in the death of his girlfriend, Jenna Mills.
According to court documents, the crash took place around 10 p.m. on June 1, 2024. Northup was reportedly driving at speeds over 100 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone on Interstate 380 and had a blood alcohol concentration of .292, more than three times the legal limit.
Northup faces two charges: Homicide by Vehicle – Operating Under the Influence, a Class B felony, and Homicide by Vehicle – Reckless Driving, a Class C felony. If convicted, these charges carry penalties of up to 25 years and 10 years in p
