HOUSTON (KIAH) — Texans safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was carted off the practice field after suffering a leg injury, reports say.

Reporters at the Greenbriar in West Virginia said that Gardner-Johnson was covering wide receiver John Metchie in a drill when Gardner-Johnson fell and was examined by trainers for an apparent leg injury.

Teammates took knees while the cart was brought out, and Gardner-Johnson could not put much weight on the injured leg. There is no immediate word on the severity of the injury.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said it was “heartbreaking” to see Gardner-Johnson get injured, according to NFL Media.
