Forecasters are expecting temperatures to rise once again after a gloomy July and start to August. Three heatwaves were recorded in London across the end of May, June and early July as temperatures shot up to 34.7C.

Londoners are set to experience long sells of sunshine and warm weather once more with highs of 31C expected next week. The Met Office says this improved weather spell is due to the remnants of tropical Storm Dexter dragging warm from the southwest across the UK.

The sunny spell will begin on Friday (August 8) in London with the mercury peaking at 25C. Temperatures will then steadily climb over the weekend to 26C before eventually reaching 29C on Monday (August 11) and 30C on both Tuesday and Wednesday (August 12 and 13).
