SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A woman is dead, and two state troopers are in the hospital after a gunman opened fire in Susquehanna County .
Officials say state police were called to a home along Route 171 in Thompson Township for reports of shots fired shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities say Carmine Faino, 61, shot and killed his neighbor, a woman identified as Lori Wasko, 57. According to state police, their homes are several hundred yards away from each other and on opposite sides of Route 171.
When state police arrived, Faino, armed with a rifle, ambushed the troopers.
Troopers Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins were seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital, where, according to the Associated Press, Trooper Jenkins remains in good condition and Trooper Perechinsky is
