MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports Thursday a 4-year-old child died after falling from a piece of farm equipment.

The agency stated the fall was reported before 6 p.m. Wednesday at a farm in the Town of Marcellon.

The child fell from the equipment and was severely injured, explained Columbia County officials.

Deputies confirmed the child was dead when they arrived.

Columbia County Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to the child’s family, and thanked the officials who responded to this tragic death.

“This was a tragic incident for all involved,” the agency stated in a Facebook post. “Our condolences go out to the family affected by this tragedy. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”
