IRVING PARK — An officer shot at burglary suspects who hit the officer with their car as they tried to leave the scene of a Game Stop smash-and-grab Thursday in Irving Park, according to police.
Around 4:26 a.m. Thursday, police were notified of multiple people who appeared to be armed breaking into the Game Stop at 2929 W. Addison St.
The group of burglars was then seen entering a white Chrysler sedan and a red Jeep SUV, and they struck an officer with one of the cars as they fled, police said.
The officer hit by the car opened fire while other officers chased the suspects fleeing the scene. No one was struck by the gunfire, and the officer hit by the car was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
