CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Charlotte-area middle school football coach has been arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a student.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and court documents confirm that 22-year-old Shy’mere Kavon Leroy Simms, a volunteer football coach at Kennedy Middle School, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 6. He is charged with one count of indecent liberties with a student.

According to court documents, the alleged incident involved a 13-year-old student and took place on August 1, 2025. Simms was formerly employed as a behavioral technician at Alexander Graham Middle School, where the student was reportedly enrolled at the time.
