McLENNAN COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - A Central Texas man was charged after a 22-month-old unresponsive child was rushed to a hospital and doctors learned the child suffered critical internal injuries.

Dwayne Andrew Kemp, 30, is charged with injury to a child with intent to cause serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony, according to online jail records.

On Oct. 3, 2024, the unresponsive child was transferred from Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest in Waco to McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple.

Medical staff believed the child may have suffered a concussion during a reported fall from a couch while being supervised by Kemp, an arrest warrant states.
