GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB) - The school bells were ringing Thursday morning for Grant Parish.

Georgetown High School welcomed back students from 1st to 12th grade. Kids were able to return to a fully renovated school.

“There’s a long story to that,” said Georgetown High School Principal Amy Merrell. “In 2020, we would have never thought that our challenges would have been bigger than Covid, but when Laura and Delta came through, it completely wiped out our school. We were originally working out of classrooms that were the size of commercial freezers, and only half of our students could come. Then the next year we were able to get larger modular buildings.”

With the larger buildings, students and teachers still did not have full access to technology.
