BOARDMAN A bicyclist has been taken to the hospital after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon.
Boardman police responded to the intersection of Glenridge Road and Ridgefield Avenue after a 7-year-old child was hit by a car. Initial scanner traffic reported it as a car vs. bicycle crash, but a crash report revealed the child's vehicle to be an electric scooter.
According to the crash report, the electric scooter did not stop at the stop sign, causing the child to get hit by an oncoming vehicle. The child's mother told police that the brakes on the electric scooter were not working, so he was unable to stop.
The child was taken to the hospital with injuries to his face, knees and possibly his neck, but the report says the child was not seriously injured.
