Greenfield-based Elanco Animal Health was the first to market two years ago with the only treatment for canine parvovirus.

Now, there is even more protection for pups. Elanco recently earned clearance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to give the medication to also prevent the virus.

The virus infects puppies that aren’t yet fully vaccinated and can cause vomiting and diarrhea that is usually deadly, killing up to 91% of of dogs if they’re not treated.
