Kelly Clarkson has announced the postponement of her remaining August shows in Las Vegas to focus on her family. The singer shared the news on Instagram, stating, "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them." Clarkson was referring to her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who is currently facing health issues.
The decision to delay the shows comes just two days before she was scheduled to perform at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Clarkson had planned to take the stage on August 8, 15, and 16. She expressed her regret to fans, saying, "I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding."
While many fans supported her decision, some expressed frustration over nonrefundable travel expenses incurred for the shows. Clarkson's residency, which began on July 4, is set to resume in September with four additional performances. However, it remains unclear when the postponed shows will be rescheduled.
Clarkson and Blackstock share two children, a daughter named River and a son named Remington. The couple married in 2013 and divorced in 2020, finalizing their separation in 2022. As part of their divorce settlement, Clarkson agreed to pay $45,000 a month in child support and made a one-time payment of $1.3 million to Blackstock.
Earlier this year, Clarkson took a brief hiatus from her talk show, prompting speculation about her absence. She returned to the show on March 20, celebrating its 1,000th episode without disclosing the reasons for her earlier absence. In a 2023 interview, she reflected on her divorce, stating, "I did not handle it well," and emphasized the importance of being selective about whom she shares her life with.
Clarkson's Las Vegas residency was initially announced in February and includes a total of 18 shows. The singer has also recently sold a stake in her music catalog, which includes some of her biggest hits.
