(NewsNation) — Dean Cain, who played the Man of Steel from 1993 to 1997 in the TV show "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," says he's joined Immigration and Customs Enforcement to "help save America."

In a video post, he encouraged others to do the same, adding that those who sign up "can get to work right away" and receive "great benefits."

"I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it. So I joined up," Cain said Tuesday.

He added, "If you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from America's streets. I like that. I voted for that."

Some critics argued in the comments of Cain's post that he's above the maximum recruitment age.
