Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s office says face masks and other pandemic-fighting measures probably will stick around for the rest of the year as the state continues to battle COVID-19.

In an interview with Capitol Media Services (link below), Ducey’s chief of staff, Daniel Scarpinato, says the closure of bars is likely to continue for the foreseeable future, in order to limit places where people congregate.

His comments come as the state is beginning to show that it might be on the right track in stabilizing the infection rate. New figures from the Arizona Department of Health Services show the number of patients in hospitals with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 appears to be leveling off, and there was the largest one-day drop in the number of patients in intensive care units.
