Noblesville under shelter order following Wayne Street explosion

There's been an explosion at a water treatment facility at 835 Wayne Street in Noblesville , according to the Noblesville Fire Department . Residents located inside a perimeter bounded by North 10th Street to the east, Clinton Street to the south, Wayne Street to the north, and the White River to the west are asked to shelter in place until further notice.

Firefighters believe this is a chemical explosion, according to WTHR . The property is owned by Indiana-American Water Company, Inc.

Just before 2:30 p.m., a Hamilton County alert shared by the department said public safety authorities remain on the scene of the hazmat emergency.

Initial reports indicate that at least one person suffered minor injuries.
