Crews continue to battle the Middle Mesa Fire near the Colorado border west of Dulce, but the 4,172-acre blaze remains uncontained, according to the Southwest Area Incident Management Team.

The lightning-sparked fire, which ignited Aug. 1 in the Carson National Forest, is burning amid above-average heat and dry conditions, with critically low minimum humidities, the management team said in a news release.

More than 360 people are deployed to fight the wildfire, with 22 engines, two helicopters, two bulldozers and six water tenders. Additional resources are on the way, according to the release, "including hand crews, engines and heavy equipment to support the full suppression strategy."
