CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has detained a suspect after leading them on a high-speed chase on Thursday afternoon.
The office K-9 Unit spotted a suspect driving a vehicle that had fled the day prior.
Spokesperson Lexi Douglas said a pursuit started just before 2 p.m., starting in the 3800 block of Ladson Road and lasting about nine minutes. The driver reached a top speed of 100 mph and ended up colliding with a civilian vehicle on Blue House Road just off Highway 78.
No one in the civilian vehicle was injured, but the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran into the woods. The suspect was later detained.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been released at this time.
