Sony has sold 80.3 million PS5 consoles worldwide.

The Japanese tech giant revealed the sales figure during its latest quarterly results release . This data accounts for sales as of June 30, 2025, and comes shortly before the PS5’s fifth anniversary in November.

For context, Sony had sold approximately 86.1 million PS4 units within its first five years on the market, meaning the PS5 will have a comfortable five months to clear that gap. A big boon in that regard will no doubt be Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yōtei , the highly-anticipated standalone sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. Yōtei launches exclusively on PS5 on October 2.

Beyond all of that, the PS5’s 80-million milestone is also pretty notable considering the comparatively slower pace of the major buzzworthy first-party game releas
