SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Northern California's first heat wave of the summer is expected to begin later this week, bringing a four-day stretch of sweltering temperatures above 100 degrees.
The KCRA 3 weather team is issuing Impact Days for Friday through Monday because of how the heat can affect outdoor activities and those sensitive to heat.
Heat-related illnesses are possible, especially for those who spend extended amounts of time outdoors. Our meteorologists say that peak temperatures will be from 2 to 6 p.m. through the heat wave that begins Friday.
Thursday forecast
Meteorologist Tamara Berg said Thursday's forecast high for downtown Sacramento is 96 degrees, the same high that was reached Wednesday. The average for this time of year is 92 degrees.
