BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A 2015 Frontier High School graduate is starting his career as an officer with the California Highway Patrol in the West Los Angeles Area.

The CHP Bakersfield office congratulated Officer Andrew Mendoza, who completed cadet training at the academy on Friday.

Mendoza earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from San Jose State University and was a manager at Trader Joe's.

The highway patrol said Mendoza is following in his father's footsteps, who is an officer in Buttonwillow.
