NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Gov. Mike Braun signed Senate Enrolled Act 1 on April 15, deeming it “historic tax relief.” Citing a property tax crisis, his signature legislative priority during his rookie session creates a new property tax credit of 10% of a homeowner’s bill, up to $300.

“Today I signed historic tax relief for Hoosiers into law,” Braun said on X after signing the bill that passed the Senate by a narrow 27-22 margin despite the GOP’s 40-10 majority. “Nearly every Hoosier, homeowner, farmer, and business owner will benefit from tax cuts, reforms, and stronger taxpayer protections!” Braun wrote.

SEA 1, also referred to as SB 1, passed the Indiana House 65-29 on April 10.
