Some of the best young golfers in the country made their way to New Haven this week for the Northern Junior Championship. Twenty-seven states were represented with 54 boys and 30 girls competing in the two-day event at the New Haven Country Club.
The tournament was started by the Paladino family to honor Stanley Trojanowski, a U.S. Marine who was awarded the Connecticut Humane Society Medal for Heroism in 1968. Trojanowski rescued a young boy from the Housatonic River. His daughter Cynthia, and grandsons Brent and Cody, have grown the tournament into one of the biggest junior events in the country, with a mission of service, a core value passed down by Stanley.
