ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Carlos Hardt, 25, for allegedly attacking a man with a metal pole.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of 11th Street for reports of an armed subject on August 6, around noon. Hardt was lying on the ground with visible injuries when authorities arrived.

The victim told officials the incident began when they started arguing about going to Roscrance for treatment.

Hardt had punched the man in the head multiple times before hitting him with a metal pole, according to court records.

The man told police he retaliated by bodyslamming Hardt.

A witness corroborated the victim's story.

Hardt is charged with aggravated battery while using a deadly weapon and domestic battery that caused bodily harm.
