The 37th Annual McDonald’s Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular is right around the corner, and the fishing is just starting to get good.

“It’s starting to go, I saw about 10 fish at the Mill Dam and someone sent a photo of a 17-pound fish they caught this morning at the hole (a not-so-secret fishing spot between Owen Sound and Leith),” said Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular co-chair Chris Geberdt. “They’ll be catching lots of fish.”

So many fish, in fact, that the Salmon Spectacular organizers have added an express lane to get anglers through the weigh-in line quicker this year.

Geberdt said the idea is to have anglers who know their salmon won’t crack the day’s top-10 use the express lane. The fish won’t be weighed, but the angler will still get entered into the day’s boat dr
