32 dogs found living inside and around an abandoned building in Catoosa County are now receiving veterinary care and evaluation.
Officials have not released the identity of the dog owners, but they say “appropriate charges will be brought against the responsible person(s).”
The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) and Catoosa County officials initially responded to allegations of animal abuse at a home in Tunnel Hill.
During a visit last Friday, investigators found 20 dogs living outside in “unsanitary conditions,” and several others living in a “hazardous” abandoned structure.
“It was readily apparent that the animals were not being humanely cared for and were living in unhealthy conditions,” GDA said.
