WYNANTSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) —It's less than a month before school starts and some districts are still coming up with their cell phone policies. Every district must be device free when the school bell rings. Gardner Dickinson school in Wynantskill is taking a different approach to the cell phone ban.

The school has implemented a new cell phone policy called Cell Phone Hotels where students could have their phones checked in during the day to give their smart phones a much needed break throughout the school day.

“We just kind of wanted to approach this in a more fun and lighthearted way," said Kyle Barber, Communications Specialist at Gardner Dickinson School
