DES MOINES, Iowa -- Heavy rain hit parts of Iowa hard Thursday morning. The slow moving storm system produced a couple of inches per hour in southern Iowa. The heaviest rain fell in Mystic with 6.9" reported. Mystic is located in Appanoose county. This area was under a flash flooding warning with water reported over a few roadways. The Des Moines airport measured 1.21" by 11 AM and Johnston reported closer to 2" of rain. This strong storm did also produce some wind damage in Lineville.

It is going to be dry the rest of the day. The heat will be climbing on Friday. The smoke could cause some air quality issues as well. The south wind will be strong at times with gusts as high as 30 MPH.
