ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man has been sentenced to life plus 90 years for killing a man during a 2024 double shooting, according to the DeKalb County district attorney.

The district attorney said Javoka Shumaker, 46, shot a 23-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman at an apartment complex in Stonecrest on Feb. 14, 2024.

The woman reportedly told police she had been in a relationship with Shumaker, but had ended the relationship. Shumaker allegedly refused to move out “and would come and go as he pleased even after the woman changed the locks,” the district attorney said.

She had told police about Shumaker before the shooting, but he was never arrested, according to prosecutors.
