TUSCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) -- Dee Lenzi and Judy Weber-Jones from Tuscola joined WCIA 3's Mitchell Rife in the studio to talk about how they're planning on celebrating 50 years in girls sports.

Lenzi was the first volleyball coach at Tuscola High School. She said the girls sports program really kicked off in the 1970s. To recognize the accomplishments of their female athletes over the years, the Tuscola Alumni Association is organizing a celebration.

"We are very excited to recognize all of the female athletes," Lenzi said.

The 50 Years of Tuscola Girls' Sports celebration will take place Sept. 26. Organizers said attendees can expect a pep rally at the high school around 1 p.m., and then a parade at 2 p.m. After that, a short ceremony will take place at the high school, then a football game.
