CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- A lane of traffic will be closed for one week on a portion of Neil Street in Champaign to allow for a complete sanitary sewer repair.

Starting on Monday, Aug. 11, ECI Underground Solutions will close one northbound lane of Neil Street between Eureka Street and Beardsley Avenue. The sewer repair will take place at 1010 North Neil Street, and the lane is set to reopen on Monday, Aug. 18, weather permitting.

During the lane closure, northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in the area of the repair.

"The City appreciates the cooperation of travelers in the area and encourages caution when traveling through work zones," said Kris Koester, Administrative Services Manager and PIO for the City of Champaign Public Works Department.
